Look close to Nana's face and see if you can notice something missing...
HER GLASSES!!!
One of the reasons for this trip for Nana besides "seeing" her grandkids was to get her eyes fixed. SEE Nana has had glasses for a LONG time and has always wanted to get rid of them. So for her 54th birthday, she treated herself with the help of her flex pay (just one more year of that Nana)
Here is Nana at the Hoppes Vision Center, (Only the of the best Lasik center out there, NO joke) as she waits for the surgery. A little bit of nerves, but lots of excitement to wear no more glasses.
In the exam room before the surgery, then off they take her to prep her and then the surgery begins. No more then 30 minutes later and she is done!! (and I watched the whole thing) What a way to bond with mom, watching her giant eye on a TV screen, but no blood so I was good. I couldn't believe that it was over, the prep work took longer then the actually surgery. Nana was so cute, after she was done, the nurse sat her up and she was soooooo happy that she could see faces without the need of glasses.
The next couple of days and night, we all took care of Nana, putting drops in her eyes and letting her rest. She was a bit out of it, sorry no pictures of those days at the request of Nana and there are just something you want to stay behind closed doors and this was one of those moments. With each day, her vison got a bit better, but there was a day or two when she had her doubts and was wondering what she had done. One day, she couldn't even open her eyes!!!
Well, all is better now for the most part, the doctor says it is just going to take time now and with each day, her vision will become better. She was reading at almost 20/20 at her check-up. Yeah for Nana!!!
So way to go Nana and her new set of eyes!!! Throw those old yucky glasses in the garbage where they belong. No need for them any more!
Say hello to "Real" Sunglasses, wrestling with your grandkids, not misplacing things, and to seeing things the right out of bed. Enjoy your new sight!
