The spooks were out tonight.

Trick Or Treat.
I am such a sucker. With everyone around us sick with the swine flu, I thought I had out smart my kids, and it would have worked IF I wasn't such a softy.
See, I was going to take the kids to the store, allowing them to each pick out a bag of candy IF they didn't go trick or treating due to all the people in the neighborhood.
Surprisingly, the kids agreed and I thought I was so tricky.

Well, I think that the pictures tell another story...hence why I am a sucker.

As the evening was growing darker, I started to feel a bit guilty, as if I was going to take away a happy childhood memory for the kids. I wouldn't want to scar them for life.

5:00 comes and the kids and I have a talk; pretty much goes like this.

Me: "Kids come here"

Kids come in a runnin': "What?" (echoing 4 different times)

Me: "Get your costumes on and don't ask why, just do it, if you know what's good for you."

Kids run aways cheering.

Me: "Only a few houses and we get to pick where you go and for how long" (which was just a waste of breath, because they didn't hear, they were all out of the room faster then I could even get the words out.)

...And the rest of the night went nothing as planed.

They were out too long, got way too much candy, ran wild, and had the best night ever in their minds.

Hey, isn't that what Halloween is all about.

***I have to add, I even had a few people ask the girls if they were the "Swine Flu" which I had to laugh about. I didn't even think about that. Silly Swine Flu.***

Rawrrrrr

I'm not "Lion"

I have the CUTEST niece ever!

You can't scare me away: I will be your favorite Auntie always.
Love YOU Kinlee Rae.

Kinlee's 1st Halloween - Little Lion

Nuff Said...

"THIS IS IT!"

Us ladies, got on our dancin' shoes and our buckets of popcorn to watch the new release of the tribute to Michael Jackson.
The This Is It"concert which was going to take place in Europe, but he died before it happened, so the movie was documentary style of the "what would be" concert.
I was in heaven; I had my girlfriends, a big diet coke, a tub of non-buttered popcorn, and my very own "MJ" glove. I was ready to enjoy the show. We went to the late night showing and with the movie being over 2 hours, we got out of the theater after midnight. I loved it. I wanted to see more. 2 hours wasn't enough.
A true musical talent, Michael Jackson was.
We were having so much fun even after the movie was over that none of us wanted to go home, so we sat in our car in front of our homes, listening to music and talking about what girls talk about. (Not boys anymore, old school songs were the pick of the night and we would giggle and sing along as we did way back when.)
With me seeing the movie, it was my final way to say my good-byes, kinda like my very own closer. I know, goofy, but hey, what can I say except, What else would a fan do, AND I had a great excuse to hang with some friends and have a fun night.

In Honor Of:

Michael Jackson.

"JUST BEAT IT"

Soup N' Scoop 2009

Tonight there was warm yummy chicken noodle soup cooking while there was snow on the ground...
...and all had to be gone before the pumpkin carvin' can begin.
I know I am such a mean mom, but it was a great bribe to have the kids eat their entire dinner with little complaints.

Well, the kids are old enough to do pretty much the whole thing by themselves; cleaning, gutting, drawing the face, and cutting with the help of dad.
The pumpkins weren't the only thing smiling tonight.
The kids had a blast and were very proud of all their hard work.
With Halloween right around the corner, the excitement from the kids are growing. They can't wait to dress up and go trick or treating. I am crossing my fingers that the weather will hold out for the kids sake of having fun and my sake for staying warm walking the neighborhood.

I'm not ready yet...

SNOW ALREADY!

Looks like today we get to celebrate two seasons at one time: Fall AND Winter.

You wanna hear a story...

Once Upon a Time...

...There was 3 little pigs and a Big BAD wolf.

Well, this wolf was hungry, so he went to the youngest piggy's house which was made out of straw; for she was a diva pig and didn't want to miss out on the party. A house of straw was quick and easy.
The Wolf says to the little pig, "Let me in, or I'll Huff and Puff and blow your house in." AND that is exactly what he did.

Run Little Pig. The wolf is hungry.

The Wolf being angry and now hungry runs to the 2nd piggy's house, for her house was built out of sticks, for she was a diva as well and didn't want to miss out on the shoe sale at the mall.

"Little Pig, Little Pig, let me in, or I'll huff and puff and blow your house in."
And that is what he did...Run Little pig.

Being angry that 2 of his dinners got away, he went to the last piggy's house; made out of bricks. This pig has brains and beauty, a deadly combination.

"Little Pig, Little Pig, let me in, or I'll huff and puff and blow your house in."

"Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin," Says the pig
SO, the wolf huffs and he puffs and he huffs and puffs some more.

Nothing happened and the piggy's house didn't fall.
The wolf ran away and the 3 little pigs lived Happily Ever After safe and sound in the brick house never to have to worry about that silly old wolf again.

THE END.

Fall has RETURNED!

I was getting kinda worried that Winter had decided to come early this year and just skip the Fall Season, which I would be sad, because Fall is my favorite, especially Utah's Falls. Last week we were having record lows and it killed our flowers outside, causing us to pull them already, BUT with the weather that we had today...It was a PERFECT Fall day.
Fall has returned.
See, Utah's Fall have to be the best ever.
The colors of the trees; the reds, yellows, and oranges, are so pretty to look at. I can't forget to mention that there was not a cloud in the sky, it was in the mid 70's with a breeze every little bit.
It was perfect to say the least. So, why not take advantage of a day like this and be outside to enjoy every minute of it...
We went up to Opa's and Oma's for a visit and at steal a few pumpkins and apples from what was left of the garden. (thanks to the sudden cold snap, it killed off most of the garden; all too soon, if you ask me)
With the weather being on my side, I told the kids (had to give them a heads up before getting out of the car and a little bribe helps too) that I was going to take a few Fall pictures.
I just Love Fall
(and I can't get enough of it)
So I thought I would write a few of my favorite things about it...

* Beautiful back drop of colors in the mountains and valleys
* Cool Breezes while the Sun shines
* Boots and sweaters come out of the closets
* Football (Dan's vote)
* Halloween Candy hit the store shelves
* No more "Night Games" played outside my house (or I thought)
* Soups/chili are part of our weekly meals
* Great photo opportunities
* Bugs are dead
* Snuggling to keep warm (Dan's vote again)
* Finally no air conditioner is needed nor is the heater
* Peppermint hot chocolate topped off with whipping cream
* No more yard work
* The fireplace can be lit and the electric blanket can be plugged in
* Great micro burst thunder storms to watch

See, I told you that I love Fall,
What's not to love about everything I listed?
Here's to hoping that Fall has decided to stick around for a little bit longer...
I could get use to more perfect days like today.

Which Team are YOU???

OK, I know that you are either Team Jacob or Team Edward and you know that being on both Team isn't even an option...
You know what I am talking about...The whole "Twilight" craze has gotten everyone a fan and you have a certain "Love" that makes you smile and brings warm fuzzies to your body.
(call me crazy, but I can't get into reading the books, I just don't get it, but there is defiantly a following.)
SO...Are you a follower of the Werewolf or of the Vampire?
Is it the warm blooded strong type or the cold fair and glissening skin type?
Which Team are YOU???
WELL...at our home...
we are TEAM CARSON.
A one-of-a-kind creature.
Small, yet Tough
Fair, but Dirty
Laid back, but Loud
Fun, and Moody
a Defender of Evil
(well most of the time, unless his sisters bug him)
See why this little guy just pulls at my heart strings and you can see why I am a fan of his.
Team CARSON is my love.

The stage is calling me...

...OK, maybe I am dreaming too big, but after a night at the movies with Liza and Christina, the three of us spent the evening watching, (and actually being entertained as well) "Fame"
How can you not want to have the talent as those kids do after watching them and seeing their passion of the arts. Those kids deserve to be there, for they have pure talent.
They make it look so easy and natural.
Why is it when I "try" to dance so called "free style," my kids give me strange looks, but watching the actors in the movie, when they do it, it takes your breath away.
I want to sing, dance, or even see my name in the headlines on movies, but so does everyone else. Everyone wants to live that American dream, but watching the movie, it shows it's not all glam and fun.
So, No mater what you do in this life, whether you are a dancer, actor, model, doctor, teacher, or even a mom, whatever you are, you just have to be the very best you can and have desire and passion and with that, you will be the best that you can be. You may go unnoticed, but you will love what you are doing and that is the important part to remember.
The hard work and dedication people are willing to do to live their dreams is motivation, but also a bit addicting... I enjoy the movie. I didn't want the movie to end.
Another thing that I loved about the movie was one of the heartthrobs, ("Marco") Aster Book
I wanted him to sing to me all night long. I went home and downloaded the songs from the movie. I didn't realize that he is in the boy band V-factory, but boy, I want to say, move over Zac Efron. Well, not permanently, but he now has to share the "musical" spotlight. Who cares if I am 8 years older then him, being a cougar nowadays is the "in" thing...right??!?!

Go and see what I am talking about, I went into the theater with no very high expectations for this movie, but surprisingly, I like it, really really like it. (I do wish that they would have shown more dancing and less on the story line, but I did enjoy it)
Maybe the stage will call you as well...
