Reality on hold....

OK, this past weekend, I told you that Dan and I (with our really good friends, Liza and Curtis) headed down south to spend the weekend in Vegas.

So being in Vegas, not a moment to waste...we went to brunch around 11am; we were able to sleep in with no kids to wake us up.
Off to the Aliante Hotel to eat at "The Feast," the casino's buffet. The name couldn't have been more perfect, because there was tons to eat. Liza was able to eat from "around the world" in just one plate!
Also, we were lucky...we got a free show before we ate. We were in Vegas, you know!
Before the buffet opened, we were waiting in line and all of the sudden a fight breaks out between a "bum" and a guy playing at a game table. It was so wired to watch, but what was even more wired, security didn't show up for like 5 minutes!
I swear that you are always being watched in Vegas, there are cameras everywhere, but for some reason, no one came...no bouncer, no police, no pit boss. In fact, a janitor with a garbage can walks right throw the fight before help got there.
Thank goodness that a under cover OFF DUTY metro cop was also waiting in line to eat, he ran over to get the fight under control.
CRAZY! I guess you see it all in Vegas!
So Friday Night, we hit the strip

DINNER later that night:
Metro Pizza
The closest pizza to New York style pizza and not going to the east coast. So Yummy!
Look at our table, there is easily enough food to last a week and there was only 5 of us there.
Crazy! Thanks John (Liza's Dad) for a great dinner and even better company!
Look closely to the gate...Can you name the person(s) that live in this house???

Sigfried and Roy! You know the guys that LOVE tigers.
Liza went on a field trip when she was in the first grade with her school, so she wanted to show us were the "famous" live in Vegas. Their house is in a wried area for the "famous," but it takes up an entire neighborhood block!

Spontaneous!
That is what we are!
Yes, we are standing next to Mickey, giving him a hug...and the last time I can remember, there was nothing to do with Disney in VEGAS...We are in DISNEYLAND!!!!

Yeah, we got in the car about 5 am on Saturday morning and drove 4 more hours to spend ONE day in Disneyland!!! It was so worth it!

If anyone has not ever gone with kids, it is a whole different place.
See when Dan and I take the kids, (almost every year) the only thing the girls want to do is stand in line for hours to meet the princesses. Then we get their autographs and then we run to the next line where we wait for another princess...we spend the entire day like that!
Don't get me wrong, I love watching the kids faces and seeing the magic from them...
...BUT this time was different!
No kids, No Lines, No PRINCESS!
The four of us went on ALL the rides! I haven't done that in years! It was a whole different place. I did find out that I am a bit of a baby when it comes to the rides...Screamin' in California Adventures made me sick! After that I was a bit nerves to go on the rides, but Liza MADE me go on them. I think the unknown of the outcome of each ride was the worse part, so I am glad that I toughed up and did them.

Here was the after photo from Screamin'...leave it to them to take me on that ride second. They were nice at first and took us to Soaring very first.
Look at my face; not very flattering, but Liza is sleeping. Nothing scares that girl.

If you thought the first was bad, look at me in this picture! Pure Terror!
I guess the name really fits that ride...Tower of Terror

So after Disneyland, we got in the car almost at 11pm and heading back to Vegas...We got back at 3am. So worth it, like I said before. I am glad that I got to experience Disneyland as a "grown-up," but be a kid at the same time!
The funny thing is, my kids (and even my own sister who was watching the kids while we were out playing) didn't even know we were going to Disneyland. Good thing we brought home some trip treats from there to ease the pain.

...And this picture is what Curtis had to drive in on Sunday as we headed back from home!
What normally would have taken 6 hours to get home, we got stuck in a nasty snow storm and it took us 9 hours to get home!
Thank goodness that we didn't have kids in the car, that would have made a long trip even longer!
Thanks to Curtis for his safe driving, my "good deed" doing, some answered prayers, we made it home safely where the kids were so excited to have Dan and I home.

Like I have said many times, I am lucky for good friends, a great Husband, and a birthday.
Too bad we can't have more then one a year! I could really use more birthday trips.
Here is to a great year being 29!
Someone asked me, what is Dan going to do for when you turn 30???
I am sure he is already feeling the pressure!

oh how fun!! I live an hour away from Disneyland and I have a season pass and I haven't been in almost a year!! I was pregnant with twins the last 9 months too, maybe that has something to do with it. Your Vegas pictures are great...looks like a good time.
