By looking at Dan's face, you can tell that He needs a vacation.
Can you tell that it is Tax Season again, so we packed our bags and
said our Good- Byes to Lehi and headed down south...
St. Gorge here we come...

We left Friday afternoon and got there about 7
ish.
This is one of my favorite pictures of the kids; you can tell they are excited to being living the "hotel life" for the next couple of days.
So we decided to go and see Zion National Park the next morning after eating breakfast at Denny's. The kids thought they were lucky kids to be eating in such "fine dinning."
Also, I have to note: we were up, showered, dressed, hair done, out the door for breakfast at 8:45 AM! That is so not normal at our home. So much for sleeping in on vacation.
***Soap Box Moment** I know people are untiled to their own option, but keep it to yourself...while at Denny's a couple with one child, said "WOW" as we walk by, I like to think it was "WOW" - that is one good looking family, but it was more like "WOW"- I hope I don't have to sit by them. Maybe they were just jealous of our happy family of 6 at breakfast.
So here are the kids at Zions.
Each has their own rock to sit on; so no one can touch or poke each other.
"Leave your hands to yourself."
Can you tell we spent 4 hours all in the car together.

Some of the beauty that we saw while we were there.
Notice the family of deer we saw just a few yards aways.
We were truly in our nature's home and there was beauty all around.

Here is our happy family...can you say Christmas card potential?

Here is
Kenzie and you can tell just how big and amazing the rock formations are.
The rocks are all around you as you walk the trails.
It was fun to look at the different colors of layers of each of the rocks.

Cassie thought it was fun to climb and jump and climb some more on the rocks, hope this doesn't offend any environmentalist out there, but it perked her interest for the time being...which gave Dan and I a break for a minute. She looks like lizard sunning herself on a rock.

It was a nice afternoon spent as a family, but as soon as we mentioned the word "swimming pool," the kids were ready to go back to the hotel...
Well, it was nice for as long as it lasted. So our trip to Zion's National Park was truly Zion at her best.

So the rest of the weekend we swam, shopped, and just made memories as a family.
Dan was able to clear his head and not have to see his computer the whole trip.
We even made it up to see the St. George Temple while we were there and if anyone can tell me why this temple doesn't have a Angel Moroni on top then, please leave me a comment. The kids were asking, and I don't know my church history like I should.

Found this for you...

Doesn't really say WHY it doesn't have a Moroni, but it isn't the only one.
Looks like you had fun! We are going down in a few weeks. My sisters and I are going to see Colbie Callet. Can't wait for some fantastic weather!
I'm jealous! I bet it is so warm! I was thinking about taking the kids to see some of the national parks down south, but I thought they were too little. Is there enough stuff to see, without having to walk a great deal?
#1- Could Delanie's hair be any cuter?
#2- McKenzie's LONG legs are to die for. I am so jealous!
#3- You're a girl after my own heart... wearing flats to go hiking!
#4- Give Dan our best wishes... he still has another month :)
#5- Can you call us to meet you there next time?
Stacy, The kids did have fun, but we did walk a bit. They do have pinic areas so you can bring in your own food and you can ride horses on different trails. They have the visitor center, that offer different things, but we just did our own thing. The kids enjoyed running and climbing after the car ride. It was $25.00 to get in and that is for a week pass, they don't offer 1 day pass...silly huh?
I almost bought that shirt in yellow. I want that weather so bad. My parents are coming up this weekend and I so I wish we were going to Vegas to see them.
Next time DO NOT forget Nielsen's or the PF!
My guess - and I do plan on finding out if this would be true is that the first 3 just didn't have one planned (Angel Moroni) Because Salt Lake was the 4th temple finished (tec, the 5th if you include Navoo)Laie Hawaii, Cardston Alberta, Mesa Arizona all don't have a tower or spire (so where would you put it) Now the last 3 I wonder about ... I didn't have a good idea - but I really will find out - I may have to call the church :) - Liza - do you think your mom can find out for us?? :)
I once knew the story with St George Temple but I can't remember. I know sometimes the city wont allow a Moroni to be placed on the Temple. This happened in Beau's mission in Mexico. I'm not sure that would have been the case with St. George back then though...I doubt it anyway
My mom would be happy to find out for us all. She now has a direct line into the church questions department, or maybe we all do. :)
I was telling Christy about how Brigham Young hated the 1st tower(too short and squatty)that they put on the St. George temple that after he died it was struck by lightning and just the tower burned down.... where they then build the taller tower. Brother Brigham was serious! I love that story!
zion is beautiful! how fun for your fam to be hunkered down in a hotel...why are they so much fun and the kids go crazy! :-)
I LOVE that story - isn't that such a quinki-dink!
What a gorgeous place! Looks like you had a lot of fun with the kids...and some great weather too! :-)
What an awesome, fun trip! I laughed when you said you were all up and ready so early in the morning. When you have kids it's just not the same as when you can lay in the hotel bed all morning and relax, huh?
