What's Poppin'?

"What is that?" was the question Kenzie and Lanie asked.
"It's a Popcorn Popper!" "no, that is what the micowave is for." You can tell by the picture the kids are in amazment over a simple kitchen tool.
They thought it was cool to watch it and wonder how it worked.

It is funny how "Old School" things that I grew-up with are forgotton with an "easier" way of life. (and I am really not that "Old School")

So it got me thinking about what my kids have now that I didn't have/ how life has improved...

Then: VS. Now:

  1. Portable CD Players VS. Ipod
VCR players and videos VS. DVDs and Tivo
  2. Cordless phones VS. everyone including kids w/ cellphones
  3. Carebars & Smurfs VS. Sponge Bob & Hannah Montana
  4. "TGIF" tv shows; Full House, Family Matters VS. Reality Shows
  5. Blockbuster/Hollywood video VS. Redbox or pay-perview
  6. Library VS. Internet
  7. 35 mm. camera VS. 10 mpx digital camera w/2 in. lcd screen
  8. Super Mario Bros. on Nintendo VS. Guitar Hero on Wii
  9. Beannie Babies VS. Webkins
AnD mY PerSOnAl FaVOriTe...
Journal VS. Blogging
WoW! How Times Have Changed! What else will our kids get to see and do?
And what other "Simple" things that we had will be ancient for them?
Only the futute and time will tell...

When I start thinking this way, I start to feel old.....remember when your parents used to tell you about how they didn't have this or that when they were little? Now, that's what we have become!

I am a believer in the oil popper. SO DANG TASTY!! But my favorite is movie popcorn with butter ALL OVER! You think you're old? Let's not even go there, I'm the old one.

I totally agree. A while back we had to check our phone lines so I had to bust out an old school corded phone and Abby was amazed. "Why does it have that thing hanging off it?" Yes, they have it pretty good.

Ok I HAVE to add - Light blue Minivan with Wood pannel siding v. Sleek fancy (still minivan) but dual tv screens (seriously) oh and the fact that kids now are required to be in car seats - we used to sleep on the floor of the van on trips! HA
BTW - We'd like to thank Amazon.com for still carrying the ultimate pop machine..

OH - I forgot another one - Delanie was over (I sware it was her) and I was unlocking the car door by actually sticking the key in the door and Delanie could not figure out what I was doing - she kept saying - why are you sticking a key in there. (It was at least a year ago)

Hey, good to hear from you! Wow, your kids are darling. I wish I could celebrate holidays like you guys did! Everything about you and your family is C-U-T-E. I never check myspace anymore so I'm glad you found me on blogworld. Keep in touch!

I LOVE the air popper! Our kids are slightly terrified of it, but it's a childhood memory for me.

Also...last month we were playing pictionary with our family and I got the word "telephone". So I start drawing the box with the handset on the top, nine buttons, a curly cord... and Jayden is looking at me like I'm mentally challenged. "WHAT IS THAT?" He asks. It wasn't until then that I realized he's probably never seen a phone with a cord in his entire life. How bizairre!
