Not yet ready for reality!!!

Almost in tears from what just happened...my 5 year old is giving me a dose of real life.

You may ask, "why such a sad face?" Well, it goes like this...

Today believe it or not was a good morning-no "surprises" from any of the kids.

We were all getting ready for Delanie's field trip at pre-school, we are going to the pumpkin patch so I THOUGHT.

The kids are all ready, cute and clean, I get ready for the day, even put on some make-up. This was going to be a fun day, so with the kids loaded in the car, off to pre-school we went.

Now, I think that I am a pretty cool mom, I dress cute, listen to hip music, heck, I am only 26, but what sweet Delanie said next took me by surprise-oh there's that word again!

So we get to school and she said that I can't go with her and instead of leaving it at that, she says that it would be too much trouble for HER if I go. I ask her why and again if I can go, this goes on for about 5 minutes and then she says, "Mom, let's not make a scene."

WHAT? A 5 year old is telling me that!

So, I finally figure out and get the picture that she doesn't want me there, so I turn to her and say, "Pick out a good pumpkin dear." Her reply is "I think I can handle that, MOM"

I start to drive away and yell out the window, "good-bye honey" and just a quick look back is all she gives me and off she goes playing with her friends.

Now I know there comes a time when parents aren't cool anymore, but please, she is 5, I thought that happens like at 13, I still have like 8 more years to be cool. I guess that I am just not ready yet for reality.

Thanks for listening to my heart ache story today. It really got to me. I took it hard.
